Sheepdog Lowfire Earthenware is our innovative take on paper clay, featuring durable, rot-resistant nylon fiber. Ideal for sculptural work, this clay body contains 5% fine white sand and superfine nylon fiber, making it compatible with most commercial glazes and firing well at Cone 04 for bisque and Cone 06 for glaze.

Perfect for assembling sculptures, Sheepdog Clay allows you to build and fully dry your parts before joining them with a slip made from the same clay. For best results, roll a thin coil of Sheepdog Clay as a joining agent, apply it along with the slip to the surfaces, and press together.

Although many choose not to fire their sculptures, opting instead for a hard coating like Fabric Stiffener and acrylic paints, Sheepdog Clay can be fired in a well-ventilated kiln from 450°F to 900°F. Please note that the nylon fiber may produce unpleasant odors and smoke during firing. Additionally, Sheepdog Clay is free from Hydrated Magnesium Silicate, enhancing its workability and performance.
