Precious Metal Clay PMC

Precious Metal Clay PMC

PMC Silver Clay is a combination of water, binders, and small particles of either silver or gold. It is molded by hand into a desired shape then heated in a kiln or torch to remove the binder and fuse the metal powder into a solid form. The result retains all the marks of the maker, transformed into a precious and durable object. Precious Metal Clays are clay-like materials that shape easily, then amazingly fire into a pure metal object! PMC can be formed and worked just as you would clay, shrinkage (8-12%). All types are perfect for creating sized designs, such as rings and earrings. They fire at a low temperature in a short time! Allowing firing with a propane torch, or even on the gas stove top.

This formula is superior to using distilled water and avoids the pasty result that water can produce. This special formulation not only rehydrates slightly over-dried clay but is ideal for restoring completely dried-out clay. When used to rehydrate your clay, PMC Aqua is also extends its working life and, when used with PMC Flex™ clay, Aqua creates a "super-flex" clay that offers even more working time. Use this solution to create your own clay sheets or clay slip, too, allowing you to more easily create weaves and woven designs.

PMC Classic The Original PMC Shrinks 30%

    $66.50

PMC Classic Original Clay 1 oz / 31 gram

A classic is back for a limited time! PMC®, the silver clay that started it all, has brought back a new and improved formula of the popular original silver PMC: PMC Classic™.

PMC Original must be kiln fired and may need to be supported during firing. Fire on a bed of alumina hydrate, or vermiculite.

With a softer, more malleable formula than the original, the updated PMC® Classic™ still delivers the signature, 25–30% shrink rate—the highest of any metal clay on the market—that makes it so versatile. There are many design applications that take advantage of the higher shrinkage. Use PMC Classic as a partner to PMC+™ or PMC3™; using first low-shrink, then high-shrink varieties in the same mold, you can create a pendant and smaller, perfectly matching earring drops, charms or like components. Carve or engrave the higher-shrinkage classic prior to firing, then enjoy the fine, intricate result once the piece is shrinks, preserving—and miniaturizing—the patterns or designs created in the unfired clay. Like all PMC varieties, this formula is completely compatible with other PMC formulas; when firing different formulas together, follow the longer/higher-temperature firing schedule.

This package contains 31.1g of metal.

    $100.00

Silver PMC Flex Clay 50 Grams

PMC Flex is a pure silver clay that has been formulated to provide extended working time. Unlike the other versions of PMC™, Flex does not completely harden at room temperature. This means it is possible to make rods and sheets for later use and to return to projects several days after getting started to continue working on them! When you are ready to sand or carve PMC Flex, dry the object by heating to 300F (150C) for about 20 minutes. Firing and finishing is the same as for all other fine silver clays.

  • Silver PMC Flex Clay 5 Grams

    $11.88

Silver PMC Flex Clay 5 Grams

With PMC® Flex™, you can work, roll, cut and shape this fine silver metal clay like modeling clay and enjoy a much longer working time--weeks, if need be! The clay firms up somewhat but stays pliable enough to bend, twist, shape--even join edges with slip--up to a month later (NOTE: You won't be able to ball-up and re-roll the clay; to do that, you'll need to rehydrate the clay and begin again). Then, when you're ready, fire the clay to produce a pure fine-silver object. This variety of PMC silver clay is ideal for use in the classroom and for anyone new to working with metal clay; its extended window of working time gives you (or your students) ample time to get designs just the way you want them.

    • Need to sand or drill the clay? Easy. Simply use one of the traditional drying methods (warming plate or blow-dryer) for 20 minutes to dry out the clay.
    • It's great to carve, easy to join components together and can be combined with all other varieties of PMC® silver clay.
    • Use the same tools you use for other metal clays, but take care to clean tools thoroughly before using them on a different clay.
