This from Old Hickory Clays: We use several different grades of kaolins in the final product blends we make at the McIntyre, GA plant. Same as how our ball clay products are blends of different component clays from different deposits in TN and KY.

The kaolin deposits have less variations compared to ball clays, but are still quite different in particle size and in mineralogy in some cases. For the Blend #2, we use a higher portion of a finer particle size, more plastic kaolin. The mineralogy of this deposit is also a bit different in that it contains some smectite-type clay in the mix.

Kaolin Old Hickory Blend #2  is a kaolin made for use all uses calling for Georgia Kaolin, where you need good plasticity . This is the most often used kaolin for clays, and glazes.

Minimum order quantity is 10 lbs.
